Sylvan Dale Ranch ~ Loveland, Colorado
Join Erika Franson, a certified Level 2 USA Archery instructor for a day of classroom work and practical application on the range to earn a Level 1 USA Archery Certification.
Archery Instructors and Coaches are the foundation of USA Archery's grassroots programs, and our athlete development pipeline. Obtaining your certification not only provides you with valuable knowledge and hands-on skills, but also boosts the marketing value of your program. Instructor and Coach Certifications are recognized by both USA Archery and the National Field Association.
A Level 1 Instructor is most closely associated with a "grassroots" program that is short-term in scope and focused on introducing basic archery skills to beginners. Such programs would include: camps, Scouting, 4- H, and Parks and Recreation.
Course Description*: The Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course provides graduates the necessary tools to maintain a high level of safety both on and off the archery range and ensures that minimum standards for archery instruction are consistently taught to provide for the safety and enjoyment of the participants, instructors and spectators. Level 1 Instructors are well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of both indoor and outdoor settings in the disciplines of target, field or 3-D archery. Instructor: Erika Franson
Erika has been doing archery for 15 years, predominantly for recreation and hunting. She began with a compound bow and eventually grew to prefer more traditional archery styles. While touring colleges, Erika and her parents discovered the wonders of Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch and, after deciding on Colorado State University, has found a second home at the 3,000 acre ranch wrangling horses, managing the archery program, and running the kids’ summer camp. Through her work at Sylvan Dale, much of Erika’s work crosses over with the Heart-J Center’s experiential learning program; she has hosted the archery program since it’s foundation in the spring of 2018, and the Connecting with Horses sessions.
Erika received her Level 2 USA Archery certification in December 2017, which allows her to follow the USA Olympic teaching methods for instructing the Level 1 beginner archer.
